Lebanon: Journalist Dima Sadek sentenced to prison

Women Journalists Without Chains expressed concern over the one-year imprisonment of journalist Dima Sadek for defending a victim of assault by supporters of a political group in 2019. 

The ruling raises significant concerns for press freedom and the safety of female journalists in Lebanon. 

The decision against Sadek is part of a larger campaign of intimidation and threats against her, which began after a tweet she posted about prominent political personalities in Iran.
